The Beautiful Names are not only to be known, but called upon.

The path of the Beautiful Names begins in the Qur'an itself. Allah presents the Names as a way of approach, remembrance, and direct calling.

"To Allah belong the Most Beautiful Names, so call upon Him by them..."

Qur'an 7:180

"Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever Name you call upon, to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names..."

Qur'an 17:110

"Allah, there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names."

Qur'an 20:8

"He is Allah: the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names..."

Qur'an 59:24

"Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise."

Sahih al-Bukhari 2736; also narrated in Sahih Muslim 2677

To know the Names is more than memorizing a list. It means learning their meanings, calling upon Allah through them, refining character by them, and bringing them into the real conditions of daily life: conflict, fear, family, work, illness, money, love, grief, responsibility, and change.
